National Credit & Collections Manager – Construction/Service Industry

Scarborough, ON | Full-Time | Hybrid (4 days a week in office)

Our client is seeking an experienced
Credit & Collections Manager
to lead national receivables operations for a large, well-established organization in the construction and service sector. This role is ideal for a proven leader who thrives in a fast-paced, contract-driven environment and understands the complexities of progress billing, holdbacks, and milestone payments.

As a key member of the finance leadership team, you'll oversee a dedicated collections group, optimize cash flow, and strengthen credit risk management across Canada.

What You'll Do

  • Lead national
    credit and collections operations
    across service and new construction portfolios
  • Monitor
    aging reports
    and drive strategies to reduce
    Days Sales Outstanding (DSO)
  • Perform
    credit risk assessments
    and guide credit approval decisions
  • Review and authorize
    credit notes and bad debt write-offs
    per policy
  • Interpret and enforce
    contract terms
    including milestone billing, progress payments, holdbacks, and change orders
  • Partner with
    legal, project management, and operations teams
    to resolve disputes and ensure compliance with contract terms
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure timely collections and proactive communication
  • Oversee accurate
    documentation and audit readiness
    for all receivables activities
  • Develop and enhance
    processes, systems, and reporting tools
    to improve performance and transparency
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a
    team of 8+ credit and collections professionals
  • Provide regular updates on collection metrics, risk accounts, and portfolio performance to senior leadership

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in
    Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
  • 10+ years of experience
    in credit and collections, including
    5+ years in management
  • Deep understanding of
    construction or service-based contracts
    , including retention/holdback, lien waivers, and progress billing
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency with
    ERP and AR management systems
    (e.g., GetPaid, Oracle, Salesforce, Excel, BI tools)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Highly organized, process-driven, and committed to continuous improvement

Preferred Background

  • Experience in
    construction, or service-based industries
  • Familiarity with
    lien laws
    and
    Canadian construction billing practices
