A Day in the Life of an Intermediate Accountant at RWC

Be part of designing your community From the bustling downtown core all the way to Northern British Columbia you will be championing accounting processes at our head office. Our previous and current locations include Amazon HQ, YVR Airport, University of British Columbia, Parq Casino, Emily Carr University, Willowbrook mall, Royal Columbian Hospital, Mills Memorial Hospital (Terrace BC) and much more The accountant plays a crucial role in giving meaningful insights into the overall financial health of the company and demonstrating opportunities for growth. You will be encouraging staff to always put their best foot forward ensuring streamlined processes within the department.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform month end closing procedures, including journal entry preparation.
  • Manage the General Ledger reconciliations, including bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain continuity schedules including the company's prepaids and fixed asset register.
  • Perform regular inventory counts and analysis.
  • Perform regular analysis of financial statements and reports and investigate variances.
  • Support with year end audit.
  • Support budget and forecasting processes.
  • Partner with operational teams to provide financial insight and analysis.
  • Take ownership of key accounting processes and drive improvements in efficiency and internal controls.
  • Support Accounts Receivable process.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and other duties as required.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Required to have 3+ years of accounting experience in a similar role.
  • Successful completion or pursuing a university degree or diploma in accounting.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation considered an asset.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and taking on new projects.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work within a team setting.
  • Able to multi-task with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
