EFC is seeking an experienced Network Systems Administrator to support our diverse operations. This is a full-time onsite position located at our Calgary Head Office location.
Description:
Reporting to the IT Manager, the Network Systems Administrator will be responsible for the analysis, implementation, development, training, support, and maintenance of applications, vendor solutions, system integrations and technical support.
Responsibilities:
- Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
- Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
- Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
- Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, evaluation, and maintaining documentation.
- Provide Tier 2 technical support and work with IT Support Specialist(s) to provide best in class service to the operating companies.
- Ensure that all user requests for desktop support/technical assistance are co-ordinated to resolution in a timely manner.
- Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
- Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets and monitoring expenses.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Ensure confidentiality and reliability of corporate data through IT-related security standards.
- Lead current state analysis and developing future state recommendations for technology solutions and business processes that drive identified business outcomes
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, including both hardware and software
- Assist in remote and on-site technical support duties as required in addition to on-call rotation.
- Participate in special projects.
- Implementation of policy and procedures at the technical level.
- Manage and maintain Microsoft 365 and Azure Infrastructure.
- Monitor and ensure backups are complete and accurate.
- Optimize network configurations for speed, stability, and redundancy.
- Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot network and server infrastructure.
- Ensure relevant systems are fully patched and up to date.
- Analyze and resolve highly complex technical issues.
- Deploy and configure physical and virtual server builds with associated hardware and peripherals.
- Ensure documentation is up to date and maintained.
- Proactively monitor systems for uptime, security, and availability.
- Travel to sites as required.
- Maintain a tidy and orderly work area exhibiting pride in work performance and contributing to a healthy and safe work environment.
- Ensure exceptional, courteous, and respectful customer service.
- Comply with and participate in the Company's Health & Safety and Quality programs and initiatives.
- Perform any other duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or related discipline(s).
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- 5 years of experience in network and/or server administration.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with enterprise data networks and firewall configuration.
- Experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy
- Experience administering hypervisor environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
- Experience managing enterprise scale email deployments.
- Strong focus on all aspects of security and compliance.
- Ability to evaluate and interpret business client requirements.
- Ability to understand technical solution and high-level architecture for applications and services.
- Experience with ERP software including Microsoft Dynamics Navision is an asset.
- Airport Security Clearance is required as a condition of employment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to develop positive and effective internal and external working relationships.
- Well-developed time management, organizational and prioritization skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Customer service orientation and entrepreneurial work ethic.
- Well-developed Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure and other Microsoft technology skills
- Experience supporting remote locations preferred; moderate travel will be required.
- Professional, punctual, meticulous, and diligent.
- Able to work collaboratively as a productive member of the EFC Team.
