Overview:

A valued TELUS client is seeking a seasoned Network Administrator to maintain, optimize, and secure the network infrastructure. within a live enterprise environment. This role requires a strong foundation in network administration, including hands-on experience with LAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, network security and cloud.

You'll work closely with the internal IT team and be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the network infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities

As a Network Administrator, you will play a critical role in designing, securing, and optimizing the enterprise network infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and maintain core and site network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and SD-WAN systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Design, implement, and optimize network topologies to support evolving organizational needs and growth.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, applying advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies to minimize downtime.
  • Oversee configuration, maintenance, and optimization of wireless networks, conducting site surveys to enhance coverage and reliability.
  • Configure and manage firewalls, including Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) features, to safeguard against emerging threats.
  • Implement and maintain Zero-Trust Infrastructure, including Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), to strengthen security posture.
  • Configure and administer secure remote access technologies, enabling reliable connectivity for distributed teams.
  • Manage load balancers and traffic policies to optimize application performance, scalability, and resource utilization.
  • Implement monitoring, patch management, and audit processes to ensure proactive maintenance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, standards, and procedures while contributing to policy development and process refinement.

Skills and Experience

We're looking for a reliable professional who brings both technical depth and a collaborative spirit. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent hands‑on experience.
  • 5+ years of success in enterprise network administration, with a track record of managing complex environments.
  • Proven expertise with SD‑WAN technologies, from design through deployment and optimization.
  • A strong grasp of networking protocols and technologies (BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, VLANs, LACP, NAT, VPNs, etc.).
  • Familiarity with diverse physical network solutions, including copper, fiber, radio, cellular, and satellite.
  • Hands‑on experience with advanced security technologies such as firewalls, IPS/IDS, WAF, and SASE, plus an understanding of zero‑trust principles.
  • Experience designing and optimizing wireless networks, applying best practices to ensure coverage and reliability.
  • Knowledge of load balancing concepts and traffic management strategies to support high‑availability applications.
  • Proficiency with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, paired with excellent problem‑solving skills under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset — you thrive as part of a team.
  • Experience with Palo Alto, Fortinet, Zscaler, Cisco, and Aruba networking technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking concepts across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Knowledge of automation and scripting for network management (e.g., Python, Ansible).
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, or Palo Alto PCNSE.
  • Experience with network virtualization technologies.

This is a contract role. Successful candidate must be incorporated.

Start Date: Immediately

Duration: 12 months – possible to become permanent.

Work Location: Vancouver or remote/hybrid.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.73-$60.26 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
