Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located across Canada.

We are currently looking for a Bilingual (Fr/En) Gainful Employment Specialist to join our team.

The Gainful Employment Specialist plays an important role in the disability organization by supporting Case Managers, Team Managers and Head Office personnel to make timely claims decisions.

Your main objective is to determine alternate occupations for employees who are currently unable to work due to their disability. You will research occupations using a variety of tools. You will also conduct labor market surveys by reaching out to employers across Canada to survey the availability and requirements of the jobs that you identify.

The gainful employment specialist enjoys working in a research-based environment, works well independently and has the desire to work with a continuous improvement mindset.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide expertise and assistance in relation to the gainful assessment process
  • Identify gainful occupations
  • Conduct labor market research with ER's/agencies regarding job availability and wage scales for a given province
  • Synthesize research results and report to Case Manager
  • Establish and maintain regional labour market/jobs database
  • Monitor labour market news and share information with Disability Management Service Offices staff

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Post-secondary degree
  • Bilingualism (fluent in French and English) required, as the position will regularly serve our clients with English and French-speaking need
  • Knowledge of disability benefits and/or rehabilitation services is a strong asset
  • Strong analytical skills and researching skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Well developed verbal and written communications skills; report writing skills; telephone interviews
  • Strong computer skills and ability to navigate various user interfaces, internet
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Excel Suite
  • Ability to multi task and focus on results
  • Ability to work independently and with colleagues in remote locations
  • Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that is required as a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website. The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life

The base salary for this position is between $38,300 - $57,400 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
