The Role: Come join us as a Portfolio Analyst with our team based in Vancouver.
The Portfolio Analyst is responsible for providing comprehensive portfolio monitoring and analytical support across multiple mortgage funds. This role includes regular performance reporting, financial analysis, and ongoing monitoring of portfolio metrics to support informed decision-making.
The successful candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple analytical tasks and projects simultaneously, while meeting tight deadlines
Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:
- Financial Modelling: Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models to analyze portfolio performance and projections in support of management decision-making. This includes the use of advanced spreadsheet formulas and functions (e.g., IFs, INDEX, MATCH, macros, pivot tables).
- Reporting & Analysis: Prepare regular reports for the management team, internal stakeholders and external parties such as investors and regulators. These reports will summarize and provide an overview of portfolio performance, key metrics, and insights to facilitate informed decision-making and compliance with mandates.
- Liquidity Monitoring: Monitor and track capital liquidity daily to summarize the fund's performance. This involves analyzing liquidity positions, cash flows, and related metrics to ensure adequate liquidity levels and compliance requirements.
- Portfolio Management: Perform ongoing reconciliation of the portfolios to ensure accuracy and completeness of data within the loan servicing systems. This involves verifying loan information, payment records, and related data to maintain data integrity and support efficient post-funding MBS transactions.
- Mortgage Servicing Support: Support the manager in evaluating and enhancing the mortgage servicing operations, including onboarding credit investors and improving the servicing solutions provided to investors.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a liaison between the Operations team and the external partners, while working closely with the internal accounting department to ensure alignment and accurate reporting.
- Systems & Data Management: Manage loan data systems and contribute to the development of customized systems functionalities to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Data Science and Analytics, and or equivalent work experience.
- Must have 1 + years of demonstrated experience in financial modelling, analysis, reporting, and financial skills, or equivalent experience as a Portfolio Analyst or related role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Mortgage industry experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and managing competing priorities while meeting tight timelines.
- Expert-level Excel Skills, including advanced skills with formulas, pivot tables, charting and data analysis.
- Strong technical proficiency across Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working with cloud-based servicing and CRM platforms to support financial reporting, portfolio analysis, and data integrity.
- Excellent problem solving & decision-making abilities.
- Highly motivated self-starter who demonstrates initiative.
- Consistently demonstrates high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Professional with a sense of discretion and commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
