Edmonton, Alberta, Canada AltaML Full time

Be the hands-on leader shaping the next generation of intelligent, agentic AI products in the Public Sector.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Technical Manager who leads from the front - someone who codes, architects, experiments, and builds alongside the team. You'll play a pivotal role in designing and delivering applied agentic AI systems that bridge cutting-edge technology and real-world impact.

In this role, you'll be both a technical builder and a strategic connector, translating complex AI capabilities into scalable, reliable, and ethical products for our public sector clients. You'll collaborate with non-technical client stakeholders across the public sector and internal development and product teams to quickly turn ideas into working systems that make a difference.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead by doing - design, prototype, and code alongside the team to set technical direction and excellence all with the aim of delighting our clients.
  • Architect intelligent systems - develop modular, scalable architectures for agentic AI solutions that are integrated into and augmenting workflows. Production is everything.
  • Bridge outcomes - translate between deep technical details and practical value-driven outcomes, ensuring clarity and alignment across stakeholders and teams.
  • Drive innovation - evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, frameworks, and AI techniques to keep our solutions ahead of the curve.
  • Champion engineering excellence - implement best practices in software development, MLOps, and responsible AI, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Mentor and grow teams - coach engineers and technical leads, model hands-on leadership, and help recruit exceptional talent as the company scales.
  • Represent technical thought leadership - Represent the company as a brand ambassador as you engage in the broader AI community, sharing insights and advocating for safe, transparent, and applied agentic AI.
What You Bring:
  • 7+ years experience in software engineering and system architecture, ideally in AI, data, or intelligent systems.
  • Proven ability to code, design, and deliver production systems, not just manage them.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts clearly to executives, clients, and partners.
  • A track record of hands-on innovation, experimentation, and learning in emerging technology domains.
  • Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks, multi-agent systems, or human-in-the-loop architectures.
  • Passion for responsible AI — building systems that are inclusive, transparent, and aligned with human intent.

Why Join Us

You'll join a fast-moving company where ideas move from whiteboard to production quickly — and where your fingerprints will be on the code, the architecture, and the innovation that powers our solutions. If you're a builder, connector, and innovator ready to lead hands-on, this is your place.
