Job Title: Product Development Coordinator – Women's Apparel
Reports To: Director / Manager of Product Development
Department: Product Development / Design
Location: Saint-Laurent, Quebec
Position Overview
The Product Development Coordinator supports the product development process from concept through production handoff for women's apparel programs sold to major U.S. retailers. This role acts as a key liaison between internal teams and overseas vendors, ensuring all development milestones, approvals, and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in working within retailer-driven development calendars.
Key Responsibilities - Product Development Support
- Coordinate all aspects of product development from initial concept through production-ready status.
- Track development timelines and ensure all milestones are met according to retailer calendars.
- Manage multiple styles and programs simultaneously across various vendors.
Vendor & Sample Coordination
- Communicate daily with overseas and domestic vendors regarding sample development.
- Request, track, and follow up on:
- Proto samples
- Fit samples
- Salesman samples
- Pre-production samples
- Ensure samples are reviewed, commented on, and approved within required timelines.
Fit, Specs & Documentation
- Support Fit & Spec teams by:
- Creating and maintaining tech packs
- Updating measurements, construction details, and bill of materials (BOM)
- Tracking fit comments and revisions
- Ensure accuracy of specs, trims, fabric details, and colorways prior to production handoff.
Retailer & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Design, Merchandising, Production, and QA teams to support retailer-specific requirements.
- Ensure compliance with retailer standards including testing, labeling, packaging, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare development packages and submit samples for buyer review and line adoption.
Tracking & Reporting
- Maintain accurate development status reports and WIP trackers.
- Update PLM systems with all development information, approvals, and revisions.
- Flag potential issues related to cost, timeline, or construction and escalate as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2–5+ years of product development experience in women's apparel.
- Experience working with major U.S. retailers (mass market, off-price, or specialty).
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, trims, and fit basics.
- Experience working with overseas vendors and managing multiple development timelines.
- Proficiency in PLM systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
