Lotus Group is proud to partner with our very reputable, well established public accounting firm, who is seeking a
Staff Accountant
to join their team in the Calgary, Alberta area.

The Staff Accountant plays a key role in preparing and reviewing financial statements, compilation engagements, and corporate and personal tax returns. This position involves working closely with clients to ensure accurate reporting, compliance with relevant legislation, and timely completion of all accounting and tax requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare accurate entries for general ledger accounts and document business transactions using accounting software.
  • Perform full-cycle accounting, including account reconciliations and maintenance of sub-ledgers and control accounts.
  • Prepare year-end financial statements, including Notice to Reader (Compilation) engagements and supporting working papers.
  • Draft and review management financial statements and accompanying notes.
  • Prepare and file corporate (T2), personal (T1), GST, T4, and T5 returns, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
  • Gather and prepare client information required for tax filings and financial reporting.
  • Assist in tax planning and handle complex tax issues under the guidance of managers and partners.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to address inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and provide financial guidance.
  • Assist in the planning of engagements, by drafting or preparing confirmations, engagement letters, trial balances, setting up files, etc.
  • Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity of all financial data and client records.
  • Other duties may be assigned by managers or partners.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years experience in public accounting.
  • Accounting Degree would be considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Online, CaseWare or other Accounting programs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, such as Outlook, Word, and Excel is required.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple client files with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Is a self-starter and able to independently prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
