We are looking to add a Staff Accountant to our team, someone with a strong passion for tax and who loves and has the motivation to work from anywhere This role is open to anyone in Canada. 

In this role you will have the opportunity to work in our growing tax team on a variety of client files, assisting with tax preparation, tax planning, and researching tax-related matters. This role will most certainly grow as the firm expands and you will be getting in 'on the ground floor' of one of Canada's best boutique cloud-accounting firms as we expand our tax offering. 

This contract position is to cover for a maternity leave. The contract length will be for 12 months, with the opportunity for the role to become permanent. 

Duties and responsibilities: 

- Preparation and review of Notice to Reader working papers and financial statements for a broad range of businesses. 

- Preparation of Corporate, Personal, and Trust Tax Returns, including filings for non-resident taxpayers. 

- Prepare responses to CRA reviews and audits 

- Assist with preparation and filing of T4's, T5's, EHT, WSIB, GST/HST, etc. 

- Assistance with tax planning for business groups and families as required. 

- Maintain existing templates, processes, and SOP – always looking for ways to improve efficiency within the group

Your Work Experience: 

- Up to 3 years public accounting experience required 

Your Software Experience: 

- Experience with Profile (or TaxCycle), Caseware, QBO, Xero, and Microsoft Office a must 

- Experience with other tax and accounting-related tech a bonus 

Your Education: 

- Undergraduate Degree in Accounting 

- CPA designation (or in pursuit of) a bonus 

Additional Information: 

- Must pass a criminal background check, education/employment verification

- Ability to work overtime as needed

- Bilingualism an asset
