Job Overview
An expanding Canadian financial institution that offers equipment financing solutions is seeking a highly motivated professional Staff Accountant. This is a fulltime position based at our Calgary, Alberta office. This individual will be reporting to the Controller as part of a collaborative team. Professional growth within the organization will be encouraged.
Individual Key Contributions/Responsibilities:
- Posting and processing journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
- Filing, data entry, record keeping, and other preparation and organization of company data.
- Assist in accounts receivable management and invoicing.
- Assist in accounts payable management and perform reconciliations.
- Assist in processing balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines.
- Assists with reviewing expenses and company records as assigned.
- Financial information processing and reporting.
- Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports.
- Asset-Based Line of Credit Administration
- Cash Management
- Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings.
- Assist with other accounting projects.
- Vacation Coverage
- Audit assistance
- Other tasks as assigned.
The Successful Candidate Will:
- Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Prioritize work deadlines.
- Have a high degree of organization.
- Demonstrate the ability to problem solve and work independently.
- Have acute attention to detail and time management skills.
- Foster a team environment.
Required Education and Experience:
- Post-secondary education in accounting or prior accounting experience.
- Willingness to learn and grow with the company.
- Accountant Designation is not required but should be enrolled in CPA.
- 1 or more years of entry-level accounting experience in an organization.
- General knowledge of and ability to learn portfolio management software (Aspire preferred)
- Experience in GP Dynamics, preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel.
