About Royal Oak Tennis Club

Royal Oak Tennis Club (ROTC) is a vibrant, community‑driven club in Hudson, Quebec with an active Junior Development pathway, adult programming, competitive interclub teams, and a lively calendar of social events. We are seeking a Head Tennis Professional to lead our coaching team, elevate our junior and adult programs, and help foster a welcoming, high‑energy club culture.

Role Overview

The Head Tennis Professional is responsible for the design, delivery, and oversight of all on‑court programming at ROTC, with a special focus on Junior Development (Red/Orange/Green/Yellow Ball), the coaching and management of competitive teams, and leadership of member‑facing socials and events. This role includes staff management, scheduling, member communications, and close collaboration with the Executive Committee.

Key Responsibilities: Junior Development (Primary Focus)

  • Design and lead a comprehensive Junior Development pathway (Red, Orange, Green, Yellow ball) aligned with Tennis Canada LTAD (Long‑Term Athlete Development) principles.
  • Coach across levels from beginner to performance‑oriented juniors; deliver private lessons, clinics, and camps.
  • Develop seasonal curriculums with progress tracking, skills assessments, and parent feedback loops.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and mentor assistant coaches/counsellors; ensure quality control and safety at all times.
  • Coordinate junior league/ladder play, in‑house tournaments, and competitive opportunities with nearby clubs.
  • Implement Safe Sport standards, emergency action plans, and court supervision protocols.

Coaching & Competitive Teams

  • Plan and run high‑quality adult and junior team practices, with periodized training, fitness, and match‑play.
  • Select line‑ups, manage interclub logistics, scout opponents, and provide courtside coaching on match days.
  • Offer video review, tactical workshops, and player development plans for motivated athletes.
  • Support try‑outs, rating sessions, and mid‑season evaluations; track team results and attendance.

Member Programming & Social Activities

  • Lead weekly adult programs (drills, cardio tennis, ladders, mixers, themed clinics) across NTRP/PlaySight or equivalent rating bands.
  • Serve as on‑court host/MC for signature social events (e.g., Friday Night BBQ mixers, Opening Kick‑Off, Club Championships, Royal Oak Open).
  • Collaborate on event concepts, draws, formats, prizes, and communications to maximize turnout and member satisfaction.
  • Provide a welcoming presence on the grounds; proactively engage members and promote programs.

Operations & Club Collaboration

  • Build seasonal program calendars, coach schedules, and court‑use plans; optimize court allocation between juniors, teams, lessons, and open play.
  • Maintain equipment (balls, teaching aids), and coordinate with the club on pro‑shop needs (stringing optional), signage, and court conditions.
  • Manage program registrations, waitlists, and rosters; monitor KPIs such as fill rates, retention, and satisfaction.
  • Communicate clearly with members via email, website/app updates, and on‑site signage; respond promptly to inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with club policies, health & safety standards, and applicable provincial regulations.

Qualifications

  • Tennis Canada certification (Club Pro 2 or higher strongly preferred) or international equivalent; NCCP training an asset.
  • Proven experience leading junior programs and coaching competitive teams.
  • Energetic on‑court presence with excellent communication and people skills; member‑centric mindset.
  • Experience mentoring staff and building positive, performance‑oriented team culture.
  • Current First Aid/CPR; background check (vulnerable sector) required prior to start.
  • Bilingual (English/French) strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Safe Sport, LTAD, and inclusive coaching practices.

Schedule & Term

  • Full‑time beginning
