Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada's only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets.

As the Manager, Application Support with Trans Mountain, you will have the opportunity to work with an innovative and creative group of industry experts supporting the operation of the Trans Mountain Pipeline System. 

Reporting to the Director, Solutions Delivery & Support, this position is responsible for overseeing the support and maintenance of business-critical applications within the organization.  This role ensures that applications run smoothly, issues are resolved promptly, and end users receive a high standard of service. The manager leads a team of support analysts, coordinates with IT and business stakeholders, and drives improvements in application reliability and user experience.

This role will be located at our Calgary Head office and an office-based position. 

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day operations for application support, including incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.Establish and monitor service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) for application support.Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues and ensure timely resolution.Lead, mentor, and develop a team of application support analysts to provide exceptional service.Collaborate with IT, development, and business teams to coordinate application upgrades, patching, and change management, Audit and SOX reporting for applications.Develop and maintain documentation, including support procedures, knowledge base articles, and training materials.Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance support efficiency and effectiveness.Ensure compliance with security policies and data protection regulations in all application support activities.Communicate regularly with stakeholders on application performance, incidents, and planned changes.Participate in disaster recovery planning and business continuity initiatives related to supported applications.Financial management, including responsibility for development and tracking of capital and operating budget, determining project economics, and AFE preparation, justification and submission as well, operational procurement and financial processes (Contracts, Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Invoice Processing) are created and managed. As well, proactively developing and informing the departmental financial forecasting requirements for applications spend.Administrative tasks - time sheets, vacation, vendor contracts, service level agreements, software licensing, etc.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

Degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering field or related discipline.Minimum of 10 years of work experience in related field. Specific knowledge and experience:
Project Management skills;Business analysis experience – understanding the business domain, drawing out requirements, communicating, managing expectations and documentation;Knowledge and experience with application systems analysis, architecture, design, and development;Knowledge and experience with operational support of application systems using development and maintenance best practices.Strong leadership and people management skills, with a strong ability to mentor, guide, and collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams. Experience managing multiple diverse projects under tight deadlines with autonomy, while maintaining high-quality, timely deliverables across the team. Skilled in navigating and facilitating difficult conversations with professionalism and empathy.Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, with a detail-oriented approach to solving complex problems. Ability to think both strategically and tactically in dynamic environments. Exceptional organizational, planning, facilitation, and coordination skills. Effective time management in high-paced, multi-tasking environments, with strong attention to detail.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement abilities. Effective collaborator with strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships and navigate challenging conversations. Adaptable and responsive in fast-paced, changing environments.

Other Requirements and Information

Will need to provide support outside of regular business hours and/or on the weekend.Occasional travel to various site locations may be required.
