Mosaic Potash Belle Plaine is a solution mine and refinery located 50 kilometers west of Regina on the Trans-Canada Highway. The Lab Technician Student Co-Op/Intern will be responsible for accurately performing all routine and non-routine shipping, refinery and field samples in a safe and timely fashion.  Our student opportunities allow you to learn from Professional Engineers, offer competitive pay, a relocation package, and an opportunity to work on exciting projects with a global leader in underground potash mining.

May 11 to August 21, 2026

Full time Co-Op/Internship. Typically, 36-40 hours a week on site.

What will you do? 

Day to day duties will include: 

• Ensure safety and housekeeping standards by applying the proper chemical handling, sampling and analysis procedures, and safety programs. 

• Plan and perform high quality, accurate, thorough and timely sample preparation, analysis and reporting. 

• Holding/releasing railcars/unit trains/bagged products and ensuring specifications are met during the manufacture and loading of Water Softener, Animal Feed, Industrial and Agricultural products. 

• Analyze and evaluate problems including troubleshooting instrument issues.  Making sound conclusions and decisions based on the information available. 

• Work as a team member demonstrating cooperative and team building skills both within the laboratory and with other departments

• Adhering to Mosaic's mission, guiding principles and priorities, and key competencies 

What do you need for this role?

• Second year or higher pursuing a diploma in Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineer, Environmental Engineer, Geological Engineering or any related Science degree.

• Attention to detail and being able to multitask and prioritize workload.

• 72% Percentage or higher. 

• 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work is preferred.

• Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred but not required.

• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license - You will need to be able to travel to and from sites and/or office.

• Ability to work full time and be a student in standing at the time of the co-op/internship

• Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete the following: Post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination.

• Basic computer skills are required.

• Experience working in a team environment is a must.

• Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable.

• Effective verbal communication skills is a plus.

• Physical work environment is occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments.
