- Data Scientist Co-op
- The Data Scientist Co-op is responsible for identifying causal inference from structured and unstructured data of our operations. The DS will utilize various supervised learning techniques to draw insight and gain predictive power to mission critical KPI’s that drive business objectives. Position could be located in different areas of the Saskatchewan province.
- What will you do?- Develop, quality test, and deploy algorithms using a variety of statistical/machine learning techniques that will help classify, predict, or detect anomalies in a variety of mission critical Key Performance Indicators of our operations.-
- Conduct data acquisition, exploration, preparation, and preprocessing-
- Collaborate with stakeholders to scope the business opportunity-
- Summarize and present technical information to inform leaders to influence business decisions-
- Comply with Environmental Health/Safety, operations and other business requirements-
- Engage in self-development to enrich your skillset to fulfill your career aspirationsWhat do you need for this role?- Working on a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science-
- Second year or higher pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science-
- 72% Percentage or higher-
- Have completed courses in Calculus, Differential Equations, Statistics, and coding in Python, R, Javascript or something similar-
- Innate passion for identifying cause and effect in data-
- Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment-
- 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work is preferred-
- Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred-
- Reliable transportation - You will need to be able to travel to and from sites.-
- Ability to work full time-
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and implement learned process, procedures or software-
- Strong verbal, written and listening communication skills, including presentation skills-
- Ability to effectively work with employees at all levels within the organization and external customers, suppliers and vendors-
- Maintain a clean work environment and comply with all safety and environmental policies-
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills-
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail-
- Miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned- Bonus Points if You Have the Following:- Advanced user in Microsoft Office Suite
- Advanced user in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred
- Azure DevOPs and AzureML are a plus
