Home & Building Solutions Manager

Wetaskiwin Co-op is now accepting applications for the permanent full-time position of Home & Building Solutions Manager. The Home & Building Solutions Manager leads merchandising, people development, and business performance while fostering a positive, service-driven culture consistent with co-operative principles.

Wetaskiwin Co-op is located in central Alberta operating in 9 locations in 5 communities of Wetaskiwin, Innisfail, Camrose, Edmonton and Falun. We operate in a variety of product lines including consumer hardware, building products, crop inputs, petroleum, liquor and feed manufacturing. Areas of responsibility:

  • Reporting to the General Manager, the Home & Building Solutions Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for multiple Home Centre departments within our co-op.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Home Centre, ensuring compliance to all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure an exceptional service experience that reflects cooperative values and meets the needs of members, customers, and local communities.
  • Maintain store presentation, merchandising quality, and inventory accuracy with guidance from Federated Co-operative Limited (FCL) programs and best practices.
  • Lead, coach, and support Home Centre teams across multiple locations.
  • Foster a culture that reflects co-operative values and emphasizes staff engagement, member service, and continuous improvement.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and succession planning in coordination with Human Resources and Team Leaders.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with each department to deliver insight, mentorship, and performance feedback.

Who you are:

You're looking for a career in Retail Management and

  • You have a minimum 5 years of retail management experience, ideally in hardware, building materials, agricultural supply, home improvement, or a related sector.
  • You are an effective communicator with strong leadership, conflict resolution, and team-building skills.
  • You exhibit strong financial literacy and understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and operational analysis.
  • Knowledge of the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) is an asset but not required for strong candidates. Multi-site leadership experience is considered a strong asset.
  • You posses a valid driver's licence with ability to travel regularly between locations.
  • You believe in building relationships and collaborating to deliver solutions that matter most, and you recognize the value that different perspectives bring to meet shared objectives.
