Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of construction processes. This role is crucial in ensuring that projects are accurately estimated, allowing for effective budgeting and resource allocation. The Construction Estimator will collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to provide precise cost estimates and support the overall project management efforts.

The position is full-time / permanent. Hours are Mon – Fri, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Responsibilities include:

Read, analyze and review tender documentation (drawings and specifications);

Perform quantity takeoffs;

Prepare list of bid items and obtain quotations;

Solicit prices from subcontractors;

Attend tender/site meetings;

Liase and communicate with owners, consultants and subcontractors;

Participate in project tenders;

Education and Experience:

Post-secondary degree or diploma in Architectural Studies or Construction Engineering Technology;

10+ years' experience in an estimator role working for a General Contractor in the Industrial, Commercial, Institutional construction sector required;

Valid Ontario 'G' Driver's License;

Key Competencies:

In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and pricing strategies;

Strong negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders;

Has strong verbal and written communication skills;

Has strong Math skills;

Has advanced skills using Microsoft Office;

Has the ability to multi-task and prioritize work;

Works well under pressure and tight deadlines;

Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment;
