Business Development Specialist (Outbound Sales) – Burnaby, BC

Metro Testing + Engineering is looking for a high-energy, goal-driven Business Development Specialist to lead our outbound sales efforts across the Lower Mainland. If you love connecting with people, opening doors, and winning new business, especially in the construction industry, we want to hear from you.

You'll be on the front lines driving growth for Metro's Construction Materials Testing Services, building relationships with General Contractors, developers, and consultants throughout the region.

This is a hands-on, in-the-field sales role, perfect for someone who enjoys being out meeting clients, visiting sites, and turning opportunities into long-term partnerships.

What You'll Do

  • Hunt for new business, through cold calls, site visits, networking, and proactive outreach.
  • Build and expand strong relationships with General Contractors, developers, engineers, and project owners.
  • Identify upcoming projects and get Metro positioned early in the bidding or pre-construction phase.
  • Lead client engagement and keep relationships warm and active, you'll be the face of Metro.
  • Work closely with Estimating and Operations teams to create winning proposals and solutions that meet client needs.
  • Represent Metro at industry events, association meetings, and trade shows to grow our visibility and brand presence.
  • Track your pipeline and performance using our CRM, providing regular feedback and market intelligence to leadership.

What You Bring

  • 3–5 years of outbound sales or business development experience, ideally in construction, engineering, or related industries.
  • Proven ability to prospect, pitch, and close deals with General Contractors and other key stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of how construction projects move through bidding, tendering, and procurement stages.
  • A competitive mindset and the motivation to exceed sales goals.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • A valid BC driver's license and willingness to travel within the territory

Nice to Have

  • Experience in materials testing, geotechnical, or environmental services.
  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Business.
  • A well-established network in the local construction community.
  • Experience using CRM platforms and managing sales pipelines.

Compensation

  • Salary range depending on experience $70,000 - $80,000 + Profit Sharing based on performance

  • Monthly vehicle allowance + mileage reimbursement
