Job Description

We are currently seeking a Paralegal to join our Personal Injury group at our downtown office. This role involves keeping cases organized and trial-ready, combining legal knowledge, investigation, client support, and administrative coordination. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review clinical records and medical reports
  • Schedule and keep track of medical/legal examinations
  • Propose strategy for conduct
  • Keep track of new file openings
  • Draft pleadings
  • Perform administrative tasks, including but not limited to
  • Updating file status list
  • Monthly summaries
  • Limitation BF calendar
  • Trial dates
  • Conduct initial client interview with lawyers and follow up with client information
  • Coordinate benefits with adjuster and client
  • Communicate with clients regarding status of recovery/work
  • Conduct various legal research
  • Prepare and review court applications (including responses and affidavits to motions for production of documents)
  • Prepare notices to admit and replies
  • Prepare writs of summons and statements of claim
  • Prepare and review lists of documents
  • Prepare bills of costs
  • Prepare and review settlement proposal and mediation summary
  • Keep track of disbursements and bill disbursements

The Ideal Candidate has:

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • An eye for detail
  • A 'self-starter' personality, who feels comfortable taking initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Discretion when dealing with confidential information
  • A 'team-player' mentality while also is able to work independently

Required and Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of legal experience in a personal injury firm
  • Graduate of a recognized paralegal program
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Experience with Elite is an asset
  • Experience with iManage is an asset
