MATRIX is a national company providing camps, logistics, and aviation management services to a diverse range of clients in the resource and service sectors, focusing on our people. We are currently seeking skilled Ice Road Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our team for an exciting opportunity working in extreme cold and remote environments. In this role, you will primarily maintain and repair heavy equipment used for ice road operations during our upcoming winter projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair various heavy machinery and equipment including sno-cats, loaders, dozers, and graders used in ice road construction.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety of all equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues in severe winter conditions.
  • Complete necessary repairs on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Support ice road operations through practical mechanical expertise.
  • Document maintenance and repair records accurately.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient operations while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Participate in daily toolbox meetings and report any unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and be away from home for extended periods.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Journeyperson certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or Red Seal certification required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in heavy machinery maintenance and repair.
  • Experience working in remote locations, preferably in winter or ice road conditions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues.
  • Knowledge of CAT equipment operations preferred.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and a drug-free environment.
