Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic Off Road and Third Year Apprentice

Journeyman Mechanic
The Journeyman Mechanic is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and repairing equipment to ensure it is performing optimally.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Receiving general instructions from the foreman and plans work schedule accordingly.
- Communicates with other journeymen and operating supervision on methods, procedures and hazards.
- Directing and mentoring apprentices to successfully complete the requirements within their trade.
- Inspection, maintenance & repair of: Diesel generators 8kw to 500kw, Diesel pumps 40hp-300hp, Diesel-powered flameless heaters, Diesel compressors, Ground thawing equipment, Loaders, Skid steers, forklifts, Hydraulic packs etc.
- Testing all equipment for proper operation and completing detailed paperwork
- Effectively manage, schedule and prioritize maintenance work orders and apprentices
- Follow specifications on complex equipment diagrams, parts drawings and catalogues
- Test and Operate repaired equipment as required
- Keep tools and equipment in clean and orderly condition
- Troubleshoot, plan, and perform work requiring a strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, low voltage direct current, electronic and pneumatic principles of equipment
- Perform other related duties as required
- Diesel and water pump experience considered an asset
- Power Generation experience considered and asset
Qualifications
- Red Seal Journeyman Heavy Duty Certificate Preferred
- Strong diesel engine troubleshooting experience an asset
- Willing to work tight deadlines and occasional overtime
