A Calgary based real estate developer, specializing in multi-family developments in the region

Position:

We are currently looking to hire a Senior Payables & Payroll Technician to join our team. This position is from Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

Accounts Payable

  • Managing the full cycle of accounts payable, including processing high volumes of invoices, coding them, and ensuring timely payment.
  • Reconciling vendor statements, assisting with month-end closing and preparing various reports.
  • Communicating with vendors to resolve payment discrepancies and maintain positive relationships.
  • Entering financial data into accounting software (QuickBooks Contractor Edition) and maintaining organized records for audits.
  • Being able to have multiple ongoing projects and allocating for job costing analysis.
  • Familiar with working with WCB and pulling Clearance Certificates.
  • Assisting with year end schedules.
  • Assisting with GST Audits.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve accounts payable systems and workflow.

Payroll Administration

  • Processing bi-weekly payroll for employees, including data entry for new hires, terminations and employee changes.
  • Calculating and processing special adjustments, vacation payments, bonuses, etc.
  • Maintaining accurate employee payroll records and addressing employee inquiries regarding pay and deductions.

Necessary for employment:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in a role within the construction industry.
  • Education: Post Secondary certificate of Diploma in accounting/business would be considered an asset.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong experience with QuickBooks (preferably within Construction).
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion are crucial.
  • Knowledge: A solid understanding of relevant Canadian payroll legislation, tax regulations (including GST) and internal controls is necessary for compliance
