About The Role
The Accounting Manager will play a pivotal role within the finance department, working closely with the Senior Controller to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This position is responsible for overseeing the overall management of the accounting functions, including reviewing financial statements, preparing detailed reports for senior management, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and corporate policies.
The successful candidate will operate in a semi-autonomous capacity, with opportunities for future team expansion and leadership responsibilities. This role offers an exciting chance to be part of a fast-paced, growing organization where your expertise will directly impact strategic decision-making and operational efficiency. The position is based in Toronto, with a hybrid work model requiring four days in the office each week.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-4+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles
- Canadian CPA designation is mandatory
- Strong knowledge of retail and real estate sectors is highly advantageous
- Experience working within large corporate or publicly traded organizations
- Proven ability to implement key accounting practices and procedures
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated resilience, passion, and commitment to delivering results
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Review and analyze financial statements, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and internal policies
- Prepare detailed financial reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders
- Coordinate with external auditors during audits and ensure timely completion of audit procedures
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure proper documentation
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance department
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support organizational growth initiatives
- Stay updated on industry regulations and ensure compliance with relevant laws and standards
