Role Description:

As an Accountant at V-TAC Accounting & Tax, you will play a key role in managing financial records, preparing financial reports, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Toronto, ON.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger, and month-end/year-end closing.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including adjusting and reversing entries.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare accurate financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) per Canadian accounting standards.
  • Prepare and file corporate tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
  • Maintain and update fixed asset registers and calculate depreciation.
  • Prepare working papers and supporting documentation for audits.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Liaise with clients and other stakeholders regarding accounting matters.
  • Support payroll processing and government remittances as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in full cycle accounting, including corporate accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working at an accounting firm.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and Canadian tax regulations.
  • Experience with financial data analysis and reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • CPA certification is a plus.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is beneficial.
