As a Category Manager at , you will lead the strategic planning and execution for the sleep product category, ensuring it aligns with broader business objectives and delivers exceptional value to customers. You will oversee the full lifecycle of your category, from product development and commercialization to market launch and financial performance management. This role requires a blend of analytical rigor, cross-functional leadership, and strategic decision-making, positioning you as a critical link between the company's financial objectives and customer needs.
In This Role, You Will
- Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies that align with broader business objectives, focusing on market share growth, customer loyalty, and long-term profitability.
- Lead the entire product lifecycle for sleep products, from concept development to market exit, ensuring that offerings remain relevant, competitive, and aligned with customer expectations.
- Take full profit and loss responsibility for the sleep category, using data analytics to guide decisions, improve profitability, and ensure category health.
- Drive new product development within the sleep category, including concept ideation, market validation, and go-to-market execution in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Use customer insights and market data to make informed decisions that enhance the customer experience and strengthen category performance.
- Conduct market and competitive analyses to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and high-potential opportunities within the sleep category.
- Set and manage pricing strategies that maximize category profitability while delivering exceptional customer value.
- Establish, monitor, and act on key performance indicators such as sales growth, margin improvement, and customer satisfaction, adjusting tactics as needed to meet or exceed targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including marketing, finance, and operations, to ensure category strategies align with broader business goals.
- Maintain quality standards and regulatory compliance, ensuring all products and tactics meet customer and market expectations for performance, safety, and durability.
- Lead regular category reviews, using financial and operational data to assess performance, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to meet long-term growth objectives.
- Design and implement processes and systems for your team, creating frameworks that support fast decision-making, financial accountability, and operational excellence.
- Establish clear performance standards for the category team, ensuring accountability for financial results, operational excellence, and execution.
- Build, develop, and lead a high-performance category team, providing coaching, mentorship, and professional development to drive continuous improvement and exceptional results.
- Foster a high-performance culture within the category team by promoting continuous improvement, agility, and data-driven decision-making.
- Serve as an advocate for the sleep category, representing its value proposition in internal meetings, cross-functional projects, and external communications.
Requirements
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Category, Product, or Brand Management, preferably in digital-first or consumer-focused industries.
- A minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience, with a proven ability to motivate teams and drive towards unified visions and objectives.
- Demonstrated success in strategic, analytical, and innovative thinking, especially in category planning, product management, and pricing and promotional merchandising strategies.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in profit and loss management, margin optimization, and data-driven decision-making.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
- Proven ability to develop and execute category strategies that drive profitable growth and enhance customer value.
- Experience in conducting market and competitive analyses to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and growth opportunities.
