Emergency Management Coordinator

Job Overview
The Emergency Management Coordinator plays a critical role in developing, implementing, and overseeing emergency management programs and policies. This position is responsible for ensuring the organization is prepared to respond effectively to emergencies and disasters. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of emergency management principles, enabling them to coordinate resources and personnel during crisis situations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain emergency management plans, policies, and procedures to ensure organizational readiness.
- Coordinate training programs for staff on emergency response protocols and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities within the organization.
- Collaborate with local, state, and government agencies to enhance community preparedness efforts.
- Lead drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency response plans.
- Serve as the primary point of contact during emergencies, providing guidance and support to staff and stakeholders.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of response efforts post-emergency and implement improvements as needed.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to emergency management activities for internal review and external stakeholders.
- Conduct regular training sessions for community members, staff, and volunteers on emergency preparedness and response procedures.
Experience
- Proven experience in emergency management or a related field is essential.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a focus on team coordination during high-pressure situations.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal emergency management regulations and best practices is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for effective collaboration with diverse groups.
- Ability to analyze complex situations quickly and make sound decisions under pressure. This position requires a proactive individual who is committed to enhancing safety protocols within the organization while fostering a culture of preparedness among all employees.
- Understanding of legal principles and regulations.
- Excellent consultation, facilitation and project management skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
