As a Leader, Specialized Transit you will oversee approximately 140 employees, providing specialized transit services for people with disabilities, customer technologies, customer sentiment and ridership monitoring. You will be responsible for service planning, contract management and scheduling to ensure the deployment of the right transit service for the right times and places with constraints and considerations of new forms of service delivery. Primary duties include:
- Hire, train, develop, mentor and supervise staff including developing goals and objectives, monitoring performance and providing feedback.
- Ensure Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging internally and externally.
- Establish and maintain the business model which provides specialized transit services including the management of contracted service providers.
- Coordinate specialized transit service design including new processes and resources.
- Lead new initiatives (i.e., Contracted service delivery and Specialized Transit Service Governance).
- Develop service design concepts to address emerging issues.
- Address escalated inquiries, resource constraints, corporate issue management and budgetary items.
- Optimize the use of City investments by streamlining amenities, modifying planning/design guidelines and determining operating impact of proposed investments.
- Foster integration of all modes of transportation, including walling, wheeling and access for people with disabilities.
- Evaluate and prioritize operational improvement projects using cost/benefit risk analyses.
- Lead procurement of service contracts and decisions for Calgary Transit Access service delivery strategies.
- Lead, write, present and act as a public spokesperson for reports to City Council and Council Committees.
Qualifications
- A degree and at least 10 years of experience in Business, Engineering, Planning or a related field.
- Experience in public sector budgeting, planning, citizen engagement, project evaluation and/or design decisions is required.
- A master's degree is preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
- Previous experience in a role with exposure to high levels of engagement from internal and external interested parties.
- Ability to direct staff, consultants and contractors while providing high-level vision and detailed direction with respect to time, quality and financial trade-offs.
