is AccessNow's flagship public-facing festival; a large-scale arts and culture event that brings accessibility into the public square. AccessFest blends live performances, talks, installations, community activations, and partnerships to create a bold, innovative, inclusive civic experience.
Role Overview
We are seeking a
Marketing Lead – AccessFest
to lead the marketing vision, strategy, and execution for AccessFest. This role is responsible for building momentum, shaping narrative, and driving audience growth in the lead-up to the festival and beyond.
This is a senior, hands-on role designed as a
high-impact contract mandate
with clear ownership of AccessFest marketing. This role has the potential to evolve into a broader marketing leadership position across AccessNow. The Marketing Lead will work closely with AccessNow leadership, creative partners, and communications collaborators to ensure AccessFest is visible, compelling, and culturally resonant.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Festival Positioning
- Work closely with the CEO to develop and lead the overall marketing strategy for AccessFest
- Shape and refine the festival's narrative, positioning, and key messages
- Ensure a cohesive and compelling presence across all marketing channels
Campaign Development & Execution
- Plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns leading up to AccessFest
- Own marketing timelines, milestones, and deliverables
- Build sustained momentum, anticipation, and audience engagement
Creative Leadership & Execution
- Lead creative direction for festival marketing, including campaign concepts, visual direction, and content formats
- Contribute directly to creative execution where needed (e.g. social content, layouts, campaign assets)
- Brief and collaborate with designers, videographers, photographers, and other creative partners
Audience Growth & Engagement
- Drive audience development, awareness, and participation
- Build excitement across social media, email, partnerships, and earned channels
- Collaborate with performers, speakers, sponsors, and partners to amplify reach
Cross-Functional & Partner Collaboration
- Work closely with communications, programming, partnerships, and production teams
- Align marketing efforts with sponsorship activations and partner visibility
- Support media and promotional opportunities tied to the festival
Measurement & Optimization
- Track campaign performance and audience engagement metrics
- Use insight and feedback to refine strategy and execution in real time
- Balance brand-building with measurable awareness and attendance goals
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience leading marketing for festivals, large-scale events, major campaigns, or cultural activations
- Proven ability to develop marketing strategy and execute creative work
- Strong creative judgment, with an eye for design, storytelling, and visual communication
- Comfort working across tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, content strategy, and audience development
- High emotional intelligence, with strong interpersonal awareness and judgment
- Strategic, out-of-the-box thinking balanced by clarity, organization, and follow-through
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to hold direct, candid conversations with a calm and constructive approach
- A positive, adaptable mindset with openness to feedback and continuous improvement
- Understanding of social media, creative workflows, and collaborative partner relationships
- A team-oriented approach, with the ability to work effectively across functions and disciplines
