Winch Truck Driver
Position Background:
The driver operates a Commercial Motor Vehicle transporting materials in compliance with all Federal Safety Regulations.
Core Duties:
- Safe and reliable operation of Tractor and Trailer
- Pick-up and delivery of Ketek equipment to/from Head Office and Branch Operations to/from client sites located in throughout Western Canada
- Operates a Winch truck to safely and efficiently transport a variety of materials;
- Responsible for the proper loading and securing of each commodity to prevent movement and allow for safe transportation of materials
- Responsible for ongoing and effective communication with Ketek's personnel, customers, and others regarding permits, routes, fuel stops, giving and receiving information and instructions
- Responsible for daily completion of all required paperwork
- Responsible for performing pre-trip, inter-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and adjustments, preventive maintenance, tire chain-ups, and minor on-road repairs as needed
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle (interior and exterior)
- Fill required paperwork
- Ability to successfully complete safety training as required on an ongoing basis
- Observe all safety procedures and use proper Personal Protective Equipment
- Ensure that all of Ketek policies and Occupational Health and Safety regulations are followed
- Represent Ketek in a light that is commensurate with the values of Management and the Corporate Vision and Mission Statements
- Be considerate of the needs of our community and the environment
- Perform other related duties as required
Working Conditions:
- Inside vehicle cab 60% to 70% of the time
- Outdoors up to 30% of the time, exposed to moderate to severe weather conditions, temperature extremes, ice, rain, snow, blowing dust etc.
- Hazards include moving objects/vehicles, burns, toxic/caustic chemicals and petroleum products, gasoline/diesel odours, fumes and gasses, chemical/petroleum product spills, noise sometimes at levels in excess of 80 DBA, dusty environments, cramped quarters, slippery surfaces, pinch points, trip and overhead obstacles
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must have CDL with appropriate endorsements
- Must have 2 years Winch experience
- Must be able to read, write and speak English at a level that would allow the communication and comprehension of job-related information, instructions, regulations, signs, maps, MSDS guidelines, required paperwork, memos, etc.
- Basic mathematical skills are required
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 2 years' experience as an Oil Field Truck Driver
- Must be able to deal with time constraints to product delivery in a timely and safe manner
- Good reasoning skills are necessary in order to apply established procedures safely and effectively while securing loads and operating a vehicle and to monitor continuously changing conditions and react appropriately
- Ability to deal with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent demanding deadlines
- Ability to handle changing schedules and priorities, with high-level prioritization skills
- Strong work ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills
