**Tridon Communications is currently seeking a Winch Operator on a 6 month contract for work Local to Fort McMurray and surrounding areas on a rotational schedule.**

**Job Summary**:
The Winch Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining winches used in telecommunications tower construction and tower stacking. This includes lifting and moving heavy loads, as well as ensuring that equipment is functioning properly and safely. The job requires physical strength, attention to detail, and knowledge of safety procedures.

**Responsibilities**:

- Maintaining winch and ensure the equipment is functioning properly and safely
- Controlling the movement of materials and equipment, lifting and lowering heavy objects as required
- Ensuring loads are moved safely and efficiently
- Monitor equipment gauges and indicators to verify load position.
- Reposition winch when required
- Load and unload materials using equipment and machines.
- Select loads according to weight and size.
- Operate compressed air, diesel, electric, gasoline, or steam-driven hoists or winches in order to control movement of cableways, cages, derricks, draglines, loaders, railcars, or skips.
- Attach or disconnect cables to loads.
- Move levers to lock hoists and winches.
- Lubricate winch drums so cables can wind on.
- Repair, maintain, and adjust equipment, using hand tools.
- Climb ladders in order to position and setup vehicle-mounted derricks.
- Adherence to all Safety policies and procedures
- Site surveys
- Other duties as assigned

**Must Haves**:

- Safety First Mindset
- Knowledge of hand and power tools, test equipment and design/fabrication techniques
- Minimum 2 years’ tower construction, rigging, stacking, and/or climbing
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in operating winch
- Minimum of 1 year experience in Gin Pole
- Experience in tower stacking is considered a strong asset
- Knowledge of products and services offered by Tridon Communications
- Safety standards related to office, shop and store environments
- Ability to gain access to client sites by passing a pre access drug and alcohol test and maintaining the ability to pass a pre access test at a moments notice to gain access to client’s site and perform safety sensitive work
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Operator’s License, NON-GDL
- Clean 3 years Drivers Abstract
- Fluent in English written and verbal communications
- Team Player

**Physical Demands**:
The Winch Operator must be able to sit for extended periods of time while driving to site. Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time while working on site year round and be able to carry loads of up to 50LBS for short periods of time. May be required to work out of town and away from home from time to time.

Our Engineering, Radio Communications, Data Communications, Security, Mobility, and Tower Divisions collaborate with customers to build custom solutions for their wireless communication needs. We have been supplying wireless communication products and services to Alberta industry since 1981. We operate seven service shops in Fort McMurray, Edmonton, Edson, Hinton, Calgary, Saskatoon & Terrace British Columbia.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour

**Experience**:

- Tower Construction, rigging, and/or climbing: 2 years (preferred)
- Gin Pole: 1 year (preferred)
- Winch Operating: 2 years (required)
- Tower/Telecom: 2 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Canadian Residency/Permit (required)
- Class 5 Licence, Non-GDL (required)
