Job Summary:
The Program Assistant(s) works closely with community members, partner organizations, and programs in our service areas. They are responsible for assisting with the facilitation of programs, assisting with registration, pre/post-program preparations and helping to build connections with participants. This position requires reliability, facilitation skills, organizational skills and the ability to work well within a team.
Program Description:
The On Call Program Assistant position supports various programs and may be within one or more Community Houses. This versatile position may involve assisting with Food Bank operations, supporting After School Children and Youth Programs, supporting Adult Engagement and Community Events as well as general administrative tasks. Must have the ability to work evenings and occasional weekends. This job posting is part of an ongoing hiring process. Job Specific Responsibilities:
- Outreach activities to residents/client to help build community connections
- Assist in implementing community-based programs for all age groups as assigned
- Provide information about community resources to community members
- Perform administrative duties related to the programs as delegated
- Participate as an active team member in staff meetings
- Support Program staff and volunteers
- Assist with the operation of programming as appropriate
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or 2-3 years related experience in a community setting
- Related experience in a community setting and community programs.
- Experience working with the program-specific population/diverse communities and knowledge of related community resources is a strong asset
- Mobility Requirements: Physical capacity to lift up to 50lbs and climbing could be required based on program responsibilities
- Fluency in English is essential; fluency in Somali, Arabic, and French is an asset; fluency in other languages is desirable.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications
- Valid First Aid and CPR (level C) is an asset
- Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check required
