Internal Auditor

Reporting to the CFO, the Internal Auditor will play a key role in ensuring compliance wit financial reporting standards and internal policies while minimizing the risk of fraud and maximizing the accuracy of financial statements and reports.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct comprehensive internal audits to assess compliance with CHN's internal controls.
• Review and analyze financial statements, records, and documentation to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Prepare adjusting entries for the CFO to consider for entry into the accounting system.
• Prepare the trial balance reconciliation for delivery to the external auditors and serve as the primary point of contact with external auditors.
• Prepare detailed audit reports with actionable recommendations for enhancing controls and processes.
• Work with the CFO and Accounting Manager to address audit findings and support the implementation of corrective actions.
• Contribute to the development of internal auditing standards and methodologies.
• Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Professional designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, or Certified Aboriginal Finance Manager (AFOA CAFM) is preferred.
• Three years of work experience as an Internal Auditor is preferred.
• Minimum (40) forty words per minute typing and word processing speed with accuracy.
• Computer literate with complete working knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other related finance such as Adagio and Paydirt Payroll.
• Familiar with office machines, including computers, photocopiers, fax machines, scanners, tablets, telephone systems and postage machine.

• Must have knowledge and understanding of Haida cultural values, past experience of working with First Nation's will be considered an asset.
