Job Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate and complete customs entries to ensure timely clearance of goods.
- Review shipping documents, invoices, and packing lists to confirm accuracy and completeness.
- Classify products using the correct Harmonized System (HS) codes and determine appropriate tariff classifications.
- Provide guidance on duty rates and applicable trade agreements based on product classification.
- Ensure all customs activities are fully compliant with relevant laws, regulations, and international trade agreements.
- Monitor updates to customs regulations and communicate any changes to relevant internal stakeholders.
- Liaise with customs authorities, including CBSA, to resolve any issues or discrepancies related to customs entries.
- Respond promptly to inquiries and requests for additional information from customs officials.
- Work cross-functionally with logistics, procurement, and sales teams to collect necessary documentation and information.
- Ensure all required permits and licenses are obtained and valid for customs clearance.
- Identify and address any customs-related problems efficiently to prevent delays or compliance issues.
- Support continuous improvement in customs processes to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international business, supply chain management, or customs compliance. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist) are preferred.
- Experience as a Customs Entry Writer or in a similar role, with a solid understanding of customs regulations.
- Knowledge of the Harmonized System (HS) codes and tariff classification.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Familiarity with customs clearance software and related tools.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $47,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
