Job Summary

Southern Alberta Surgical Centre, located in the Meadow Mile Professional Building in central Calgary, is currently seeking a full time Medical Office Assistant (MOA), starting immediately.

We're looking for a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working directly with people. The successful candidate will be responsible for fulfilling multiple administrative duties in both the front and back office including receptionist, billing support, scheduling, patient communication, and filing. If you have experience in the medical field, you may be perfect for this position.

Qualifications

  • ≥2 years of MOA experience (experience as a surgical MOA is highly preferred).
  • Medical Office Assistant certification is favoured.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Desire to work with diverse patients requiring clinical and surgical management.
  • Candidates with surgical services experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience with Accuro EMR is an asset

Duties and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to

  • Greeting patients upon arrival, providing excellent customer service and problem solving when necessary.
  • Receive and communicate patient messages to clinic staff.
  • Schedule appointment bookings, reminders, and follow-ups.
  • Review clinical notes to ensure continuity of patient care for referrals, investigations, etc.
  • Complete insurance claims and maintain confidential patient information, such as medical results and case histories, with electronic medical record software (Accuro).
  • Manage invoices and financial statements.
  • Manage clinic shipping, receiving and filing.
  • Perform basic disinfection and decontamination of equipment and exam rooms if needed.
