As a member of our instructional Community, you will help students share their experiences, pursue their passion in post-secondary education and support their success in achieving their certificate, diploma or degree. Established by Nishnawbe Aski Nation, the Oshki-Pimache-O-Win: The Wenjack Education Institute provides culturally appropriate education and training programs through blended delivery methods using e-learning platforms, attending on-campus sessions, and by distance learning. We offer choice, accessibility and flexibility in learning opportunities for people seeking new beginnings through education and training.

Specific Courses Currently Available for the Winter 2025 term include:

 Personal Support Worker: Advanced Fundamental Knowledge of PSW Practice

  • This course provides a more in-depth look at the nursing process, basic assessment and client care, which will help prepare the learner for their role as a member of an interprofessional team.

  • Enhanced knowledge of various common disorders, communicable diseases, alterations in speech and language, hearing and vision impairments, mental health disorders, disorientation, delirium, and various forms of dementia will be covered.

  • This course is also designed to support the knowledge and skills for clinical practice of PW 200.

Delivery Method:

Combination of on-campus Face-Face and on-line learning through use of Zoom Classes and Hyflex Teaching and Learning model. Instructors are required to be available to teach in person on campus for the intensive blocks of learning for a total time period of 4 weeks per semester.

Wages:

Instructor wage scale $50/ hour based on the number of hours of the course plus a prep fee.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in relevant field

  • 5-7 years of practical experience in the relevant program field and previous teaching experience and work with Indigenous learners

  • Classroom teaching experience is an asset

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a collaborative team environment

  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, presentation skills

  • Strong commitment to academic excellence and student success

  • Knowledge of Office 365, Outlook, Word, Excel, Zoom and PowerPoint would be desirable

  • Indigenous language an asset
