Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Supervisor – Golf Services, and the technical direction and guidance of the Leadhand Greenskeeper responsible for the general maintenance of the grounds.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates turf equipment (grass cutting), riding and push mower.
- Operates grass trimmers (motorized), rakes and shovels.
- Washes machinery and picks up garbage/litter.
- Performs miscellaneous light and heavy manual labour outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- Must be a secondary school graduate and enrolled at a college or university; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Previous turf/landscaping experience (i.e. grass cutting, sod laying, trimming, etc.)
Skills & Abilities:
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Must be highly motivated and able to work well in a team environment
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Superior customer service skills and ability to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse conditions
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class "G2" Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent
- Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
Assets:
- Experience with operating mowers (riding or push, lawn tractors, etc.)
- Experience working on a golf course
- Knowledge and experience with the game of golf
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must be available for weekdays and weekends as required
- Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
- May be required to provide a successful driver's abstract
