About us:

We are a busy small CPA firm looking for a motivated staff accountant to join our team. The firm works collaboratively to provide accounting and tax services to individuals and local small and medium sized businesses. Our firm provides exceptional training and exposure to a wide variety of bookkeeping, accounting and tax work. This is an entry level position; training will be provided by Partner and Staff.

This is not a CPA articling position as we do not have assurance hours.

Job description:

  • Preparation of compilation engagements, including working papers and financial statements;
  • Preparation of personal, corporate, partnership and trust tax returns;
  • Preparation of other compliance forms including Goods and Services Tax, T4 Payroll Slip; Summaries, T5 slips and summaries; and
  • Provide full cycle bookkeeping services for individuals and corporations, including bank reconciliations and payroll.

Job environment:

  • Fast paced, deadline orientated;
  • Continuous learning and upgrading of skills;
  • Staff are expected to work in-office;
  • There is expected overtime in March and April to meet client needs during busy season.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of diploma or degree in accounting, finance or relevant program;
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook);
  • Experience on accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks, and Quicken), tax software (Cantax and / or Taxprep)
  • Some experience with CaseWare will be an asset;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills (co-operative, courteous, friendly and professional);and
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $44,000.00-$45,500.00 per year
