JOB DUTIES:

  • We are seeking a reliable and caring Kitchen Cook to join our childcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks that meet Alberta Child Care Licensing and AHS nutrition standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks following the centre's menu and dietary guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment at all times.
  • Adhere to Alberta Health Services (AHS) food safety regulations and centre policies.
  • Accommodate food allergies, cultural preferences, and dietary restrictions as needed.
  • Order, receive, and store food and supplies appropriately.
  • Support educators during meal/snack times as needed.
  • Maintain daily records of food preparation and cleaning schedules.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and management regarding menu updates or inventory needs.

Qualifications

  • Valid Food Handler's Certificate (Food Safety Level 1 or 2) — required.
  • Previous experience cooking in a childcare, school, or commercial kitchen is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Canada's Food Guide and nutrition standards for children.
  • Ability to lift up to 30-50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • A positive attitude and a genuine love for working in a child-focused environment.
  • Must be available between 7am - 6pm, Mon - Fri.
  • Alberta ECE Child Care Level 1/2 would be ideal.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$24.16 per hour
