The Role

We are seeking a highly disciplined
Senior Bookkeeper
to serve as the primary steward of our organization's financial health. You will not just report on the numbers; you will own them.

The ideal candidate is a "financial gatekeeper"—someone who possesses a granular understanding of every dollar leaving the company. Your primary directive is to ensure all expenditures, vendor contracts, and tax obligations are strictly monitored, validated, and kept under control. We need someone who can answer the question,
"Where do we stand financially?"
at any given moment with 100% accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Expense Management & Cost Control

  • The "Gatekeeper":
    Implement and enforce rigorous expense policies to eliminate waste and unauthorized spending. You are the final checkpoint for capital leaving the business.
  • Real-Time Visibility:
    Maintain a "live" view of the company's burn rate and cash flow. You must ensure that management understands exactly what expenses are outstanding at any point in time.
  • Auditing:
    Regularly audit internal spending to ensure compliance with budgets and corporate policy.

2. Vendor Management & Procurement

  • Vendor Accountability:
    Actively monitor vendor performance and billing. Ensure we are receiving the value promised and that invoices strictly match the deliverables.
  • Negotiation:
    Lead contract renewals and negotiations to secure the best possible terms and pricing.
  • AP Oversight:
    Manage the Accounts Payable process to ensure vendors are paid on time, but only
    after
    strict verification of services rendered.

3. Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Tax & Regulatory:
    Oversee all tax planning and compliance (local, state, federal) to ensure the company is never at risk of penalties or late fees.
  • Month-End Close:
    Execute a precise and timely month-end close process to produce accurate financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
  • Forecasting:
    Provide leadership with accurate financial forecasts to prevent cash flow surprises.

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    7–10+ years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a Controller, Senior Bookkeeper, or senior management role.
  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required; CPA or MBA highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    Expert proficiency in Excel and financial ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks Enterprise, Sage Intacct).
  • The Mindset:
    You must have an eagle eye for detail. You are comfortable being the person who says "no" when an expense does not align with company goals.

    Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for the executive team.
