Working Days: Monday – Friday

Working Hours: 9am – 5pm

Financial Agency provides the highest level of accounting service and customized tax advice thereby educating our clients of their ideal financial solutions. We offer year-round bookkeeping, accounting (corporate & personal), tax and payroll services.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions of Financial Agency and overseeing the accounting & bookkeeping for various clients from diverse industries. The Senior Accountant must have solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements.
  • Coordinating activities of external auditors and/or CRA auditors.
  • Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process.
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
  • Evaluating accounting and internal control systems.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supposing database, as needed.
  • Developing and monitoring business performance metrics.
  • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.
  • Data entry of invoices & bills in accounting software for clients.
  • Completion of bank & credit card reconciliations through accounting software.
  • Completion of HST reconciliations and returns.
  • Detailed preparation of account reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts, including preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting as required.
  • Maintain general ledger, including: Post journal entries, analyze general ledger, make adjustments where needed.
  • Verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling accounts payable and receivable as needed.
  • Prepare full set of lead sheets and working papers for monthly reporting & to facilitate quarterly/year-end reviews and tax return preparation, including year end adjusting entries (i.e. depreciation).
  • Prepare tax returns T2 (Canadian corporate tax returns) & T1 (individual tax returns).
  • Build positive and productive relationships with clients for business growth, also ensure that client requests are handled timely and accurately.

Requirements

  • Professional Designation, Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or working towards an accounting designation or relevant number of years of accounting experience.
  • Experience in accounting and/or previous experience in an accounting practice is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of general accounting policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks or any other accounting software, MS Office products and advanced Excel Skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Possess good decision-making skills, flexibility, and adaptability to plan and accomplish objectives.
  • Strong ability to define problems, collect applicable data and perform advanced analysis of data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
