About the Role

EZ Path is seeking a part-time Writing Instructor to support high school students with academic writing, personal statements, and application materials. The ideal candidate has strong English writing abilities, teaching experience, and familiarity with Ontario high school curriculum expectations.

You will work with students on improving clarity, structure, tone, and overall communication in their academic and application-related writing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring in academic writing
  • Assist students with personal statements, supplementary essays, and portfolio-related written components
  • Guide students through ENG3U / ENG4U writing expectations (if qualified)
  • Offer constructive feedback and help students revise and strengthen their work
  • Support students with IELTS writing and reading preparation (if applicable)
  • (Optional) Provide guidance on OUAC / university application document submissions
  • Maintain professional communication with students and our team
  • Prepare lesson plans or feedback summaries when required

Requirements

  • Strong English writing skills and excellent grammar awareness
  • Experience teaching or tutoring high school students
  • Ability to explain writing concepts clearly and provide actionable feedback
  • Professional, patient, and supportive communication style
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications (Asset)

  • OCT-certified teacher, especially qualified to teach ENG3U / ENG4U
  • IELTS overall 7.0+ or demonstrated IELTS teaching experience
  • Experience with university application essays / personal statements
  • Familiarity with OUAC application and submission workflow
  • Experience in tutoring ESL or international students is an asset
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Communications, or related field prefer

Work Schedule and Compensation

  • Flexible part-time hours based on student needs
  • Competitive hourly rate depending on experience
  • Opportunities to take on more students as the role grows
