Pay: $35-47/hr incorp

Must Haves

  • 5+ years of IoT experience with specialization within controls and automation for sensors
  • Professional experience within Control Engineering (Manufacturing/Industrial/Commercial)
  • Experience with real-time monitoring sensors
  • Set tolerances and parameters for alarms (e.g., trigger alerts if a refrigeration unit is off for 5+ minutes or experiences a complete failure).
  • Ensure sensors are calibrated to detect anomalies and communicate alerts in real-time.
  • Alarm Strategy & Response
  • Develop and maintain alarm logic for asset failures or performance deviations.
  • Collaborate with teams to define what actions are triggered post-alert (e.g., dispatch technician, shut down system, notify stakeholders).
  • Controls Standardization & Architecture
  • Contribute to the development of standardized controls specifications across departments (e.g., grocery, pharmacy) based on operational and regulatory needs.
  • Support the design of scalable, hardware-agnostic network architecture for controls systems.
  • Digital asset management experience
  • Setting the tolerance and perimeters for sensors
  • Experience with asset inventory management tools (a CMMS) and maintaining accurate records of assets
  • Track sensor performance, asset health, and maintenance history to provide insights on alerts, failures to help with further strategy on asset reliability,
  • Experience reporting data and presentation with tools such as Excel and Powerpoint

Insight Global is looking for a Controls Technician to support the design, execution, and transformation of building controls systems (alarms and sensors) —particularly for Refrigeration & HVAC assets—with a strong focus on IoT integration, real-time monitoring, and alarm management. The individual should have experience with controls and automation strategy, improvement, and reporting to assist with further planning and budgeting for digital assets.
