The job function of Quality Control Technician requires conducting laboratory tests to produce reliable data related to food products and environment that is objective and valid. As such displaying confidentiality and integrity in reporting accurate test results is central to this role.

NOTE: this is a part time 3 month contract. Timings 6pm - 10pm (monday to friday)

Responsibilities including but not limited to:

· Sample and analyze product at its pre and post-incubation stages

· Collect retained samples and organize their storage in company's cooler

· Responsible of conducting post-operational sanitation assessment at the plant

· Perform air sampling

· Responsible for collecting environmental and product samples for third party lab analysis

· Record, interpret and communicate test results

· Perform microbiological and physiochemical analysis on raw materials

· Perform regular maintenance of laboratory equipment by calibrating, validating and cleaning

· Maintain a clean and organized work environment

· Perform shelf life studies

· Support the enforcement of GMPs and sanitation guidelines around the facility

· Support in the development of new products when needed

· Collaborate in returns/complains investigations and in the troubleshooting of formulation/consistency issues when input is requested

Technical Requirements

· University or college degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Safety, Food Chemistry or a related scientific field

· Minimum 2 years of experience in Quality Control/Assurance, Laboratory Analysis, Food Product Development or Food Safety

· GMP, HACCP/Food Safety training

· Understanding of SQF program

· Experience working in food processing/manufacturing and/or food analysis

· Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment

· Knowledge of microbiological techniques and laboratory equipment and materials

· Ability to calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment

· Detail oriented and high degree of accuracy

Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 3 months

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
