STRUCTURAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering & Innovation, the Structural Design Engineer is responsible for the design of all components supplied by Behlen using established Building Systems parameters, specific order requirements and code requirements while considering current production capabilities. Our engineer will communicate closely with our customers and associate departments evaluating and interpreting customer supplied information, technical drawings, specifications and requirements which includes formulating detailed economical solutions.

This role requires:

· Completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Structural, Civil, or Biosystems Engineering

o Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer is also required

o Combinations of experience in structural design and relevant courses will also be considered

· Experience and knowledge in Structural Analysis and Design, Steel Design Codes & Standards (Canadian & International), Building Codes and Standard Industry Construction Practices are requirements

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Engineering Design Software are a requirement

o Experience with 3D design and analysis programs is an asset

· Solid communication and interpersonal skills

· Above average mathematical skills; a strong, resourceful problem solver

· Attention to detail and time management are necessary for success

· Ability to work in fast-paced environment, continually adapt to change and work under pressure
