Project Engineering Specialist – Mechanical Design

We are seeking a hands on problem solver with a Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology background, and experience in manufacturing and Autodesk software. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy applying engineering principles in a practical setting — bridging design, fabrication, and project execution. You'll gain exposure to every stage of the manufacturing process, from 3D modeling and design to hands-on shop builds, testing, and field problem solving, with mentorship from experienced engineers and technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate customer requirements into practical engineering and manufacturing solutions.
  • Perform mechanical design and Research and Development (R&D) activities including 3D models, 2D drawings, shop/assembly drawings, and protype development.
  • Develop and review mechanical drawings, piping and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs), and organize/review electrical drawings and processes.
  • Prepare and maintain bill of materials, cost estimates, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain and improve engineering file systems, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and project processes.
  • Develop and track project plans, schedules, and deliverables to ensure successful execution.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials, parts, and resources for projects
  • Monitor project progress, update stakeholders, and identify risks or delays with proposed solutions.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related mechanical discipline (EIT, B.Eng, MET)
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Inventor, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
  • Experience in project coordination or project management within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Exposure to fabrication, manufacturing, or assembly processes is an asset.
