The Ministry of Trade and Export Development is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented individual to join its team as the Supervisor, Financial Services. In this position, you will be responsible for coaching, supervising and training staff along with performing various accounting functions.
As the successful candidate, you will provide leadership and expertise to staff who prepare centralized financial accounting functions such as deposits, payment processing, reconciliations and financial reporting. This position ensures internal controls are being adhered to within Financial Services and make recommendations to strengthen when required. You will provide accounting advice to management with respect to government financial policies and processes to ensure sound accountability and fiscal management.
You will have knowledge of:
- Financial accounting, auditing principles and standards including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal financial controls;
- Human resource management principles and practices, including supervision, staffing, performance management, coaching and training; and
- Applicable computer software packages and databases.
Our candidate of choice will have a diploma in accounting or university level accounting classes, supplemented by related experience with Financial Administration Manual (FAM) and public sector accounting policies. Candidates must clearly indicate in their cover letter or résumé where they have acquired the knowledge and abilities required for this position.
