Department Overview
The Marketing team comprises 12 professionals dedicated to the full spectrum of internal and external marketing and business development efforts to drive growth and success. The team's bespoke approach helps consultants connect with clients and build CRA's brand through thought leadership, organizing and hosting social and content events, robust digital marketing campaigns, competitive intelligence, and collateral development. Marketing staff are based in the Boston, New York, Toronto, and London offices.

Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Director, Marketing Communications will build a content function from the ground up at one of the world's leading economic consulting firms, with a direct impact on revenue generation and competitive positioning. The Director will architect and execute a comprehensive content strategy that converts our world-class economic consulting expertise into powerful market-facing assets. This new role will drive revenue generation by establishing CRA as the definitive thought leader in economic consulting, creating a sustainable competitive advantage through strategic commercialization of our intellectual capital.

Key Responsibilities
Revenue-Generating Content Engine

  • Evolve and optimize CRA's publications portfolio (i.e. thought leadership, publications, white papers, campaigns, social media) to drive client engagement and business development opportunities
  • Design and implement systematic processes to capture, refine, and commercialize consultant insights into market-leading thought leadership
  • Establish content frameworks that directly support business development cycles and client acquisition strategies (i.e. client presentations, webinars and conference material)
  • Create measurable content-to-revenue pathways that demonstrate clear ROI on intellectual capital investment

Brand Evolution and Market Positioning

  • Evolve CRA's brand to reflect our position as the premier economic consulting firm globally
  • Develop integrated content strategies that differentiate CRA in competitive pursuits and market positioning
  • Manage all brand assets, design resources, and visual identity to ensure consistent, compelling market presence
  • Establish CRA as the go-to source for economic expertise across target industries and practice areas

Team Leadership and Operational Excellence

  • Build and lead a high-performing content team (2 writers, 3 designers) with clear growth trajectory
  • Establish content development processes that scale with business growth and maintain quality standards
  • Manage relationships with external PR agencies and communications partners to amplify CRA's market reach (i.e. Sharon Merrill and new VP announcements, Pierpont for Energy)
  • Implement performance metrics and KPIs that track content impact on business development and revenue

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years progressive experience in content strategy and communications, preferably within professional services or B2B consulting environments
  • Proven track record of transforming technical expertise into revenue-generating marketing assets
  • Experience managing creative teams and external agency relationships
  • Strong understanding of professional services business development cycles and client engagement strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior-level stakeholders and translate complex concepts into compelling narratives

Work Location Flexibility

We currently expect that individuals spend at least 3 to 4 days a week working in the office (which may include traveling to another CRA office or to client meetings), with specific days determined in coordination with your practice or team.
