Your Role
The Media Solutions team is seeking a highly dynamic, experienced, and results-oriented Director of Marketing to lead and execute our marketing strategy. This pivotal position is not only responsible for driving substantial growth and significantly elevating brand awareness but also for ensuring that marketing initiatives are in alignment with Media Solutions' strategic objectives and the broader CBC/Radio-Canada vision.

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in marketing leadership, demonstrating exceptional abilities in team management, budget oversight, and the cultivation of robust external relationships. Exceptional leadership qualities, strategic foresight, and strong analytical capabilities are crucial for success.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Vision & Leadership:

  • Develop, implement, and refine comprehensive marketing strategies, encompassing market research, go-to-market planning, and product positioning to achieve objectives and enhance visibility.
  • Define and evolve Media Solutions' brand strategy, ensuring seamless alignment with overarching priorities.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Revenue Officer and leadership team to integrate marketing efforts with the overall business strategy.
  • Identify and nurture strategic partnerships to strengthen market positioning and expand presence in both competitive and emerging markets.

Team & Resource Management

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a small team of direct reports, fostering a collaborative environment and providing direction for campaigns and promotional activities.
  • Manage the marketing budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and meticulously tracking Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Oversee agency partnerships across creative, media, and public relations to ensure the delivery of high-quality campaigns.

Brand & Communications Excellence

  • Spearhead all marketing and communications endeavors, from conception to execution, ensuring consistent alignment with Media Solutions' positioning.
  • Establish and diligently maintain a robust and positive brand image for CBC/Radio-Canada's Media Solutions Team.
  • Develop and enforce brand standards, messaging frameworks, and governance for consistent application across all touchpoints.
  • Direct the social media strategy, ensuring consistent engagement and compelling storytelling across all platforms.
  • Manage public relations initiatives, including strategic media outreach, compelling press releases, and impactful influencer partnerships.

Performance & Analytics Driven

  • Analyze market trends, monitor competitor activities, and evaluate marketing campaign performance to identify opportunities and inform data-driven decisions.
  • Continuously monitor key marketing performance metrics, providing insightful analysis and recommendations for ongoing improvement.

Campaign Execution & Impact

  • Drive high-visibility brand initiatives, including impactful thought leadership campaigns.
  • Develop and manage an integrated marketing and events calendar.
  • Coordinate marketing strategies with other departments to ensure alignment and contribute to overall business goals.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a closely related field. A Master's degree with a marketing specialization, is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience: Several years of progressive experience in marketing roles, demonstrating increasing responsibility and leadership, is essential, including a Marketing Manager or Director position within a comparable environment.
  • Leadership & Management: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team. Proven experience in effectively managing complex budgets, allocating resources, and making data-driven strategic decisions is required. Experience operating within a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are critical for both clear, concise internal reporting and compelling, persuasive external communications. Bilingualism (French and English) is required.
  • Analytical Skills: A strong capability to analyze complex market data, interpret market trends, and leverage research to inform and drive strategic decisions is crucial.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity and hands-on experience with a wide array of modern marketing software (e.g., CRM, marketing automation platforms), various social media platforms and analytics tools, and a broad range of digital marketing tools (e.g., SEO, SEM, email marketing) are expected.
  • Strategic Thinking: Forward-thinking, proactive mindset with a demonstrated capacity to identify new market opportunities, anticipate industry shifts, and adapt marketing plans swiftly and effectively in response to dynamic market changes and competitive pressures.
