Job Summary

The Senior Systems Engineer – Cybersecurity is a key member of the IT team, based in Vancouver, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a secure enterprise IT infrastructure. This role ensures that cybersecurity measures are effectively integrated across all systems, applications, and networks. The position works closely with the Director of IT and other cross-functional teams to align technology operations with company-wide security policies, best practices, and regulatory compliance standards.

Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


• Lead the design and implementation of secure IT systems and infrastructure.

• Maintain endpoint protection, vulnerability management, SDWAN/SASE, firewalls, and threat detection platforms. 

• Implement and manage cybersecurity controls across networks, cloud, storage, and backup systems. 

• Perform system hardening, patch management, and regular security reviews. 

• Conduct audits, assessments, and incident response planning. 

• Collaborate with IT, Information Security, Engineering, and Compliance teams to enforce security frameworks (e.g., CIS-18).

• Drive automation for security monitoring and reporting processes. 

• Research and evaluate new cybersecurity tools and platforms. 

• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical support during security incidents. 

• Support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance activities, including access and security reviews. 

• Provide hands-on hardware/system support in the Vancouver office.

Education & Experience


• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. 

• Must have a minimum of 7 years' experience in systems engineering, including 3+ years in a cybersecurity-focused role. 

• Must have hands-on experience with Windows, Linux, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS). 

• Experience with security tools such as Sentinel One, CrowdStrike, Fortinet, Splunk, or similar is required.

Qualifications & Skills

Required qualifications and skills include but are not limited to: 

• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity architecture, policies, and compliance standards. 

• Proficient in scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python). 

• Understanding of security technologies: firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, DLP, EDR, IGA. 

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. 

• Ability to support onsite systems as needed.

• The candidate should be available to work from the office as part of a hybrid work model.

Preferred qualifications and skills include but are not limited to: 

• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or Microsoft/AWS Security Specialist. 

• Experience supporting SOX audits and working in regulated environments.
