Business Development Associate, Market Intelligence Sales

About ClearBlue Markets

ClearBlue Markets is a global leader in carbon markets, helping clients navigate carbon pricing and offset strategies to drive real climate impact. With offices in Toronto, Amsterdam, and Colombia, our team blends deep policy expertise, trading experience, and technology to support organizations across compliance and voluntary markets. Recognized as Best Advisory by Environmental Finance multiple years in a row, we're a mission-driven company building a collaborative, fast-growing, and people-first culture that balances performance with purpose. You'll be joining a company in rapid growth mode. That means cross functional collaboration, curiosity, ownership and care are just as important as technical skill. We value transparency, a first principles approach, and impact. We're ecstatic to welcome teammates who want to grow with us.

Job Overview

We are seeking a high-energy, intellectually curious Business Development Associate to support our Business Development Lead of North America. In this role, you will be the engine behind our Market Intelligence sales efforts, focusing on our Vantage Market Intelligence platform.

This is a foundational role designed for someone who is keen to work in a growth-stage company and is not just looking to follow a playbook but wants to help write it by applying critical thinking to formalize how we scale our Market Intelligence sales. You will support lead generation, outbound outreach, and CRM management while directly reporting to the Business Development Lead of North America to formalize the scaling strategy for this arm of the business. This role offers the opportunity to grow into a client-facing sales position focused on closing deals as the company expands.

The role requires you to work
4-days in our downtown Calgary office
(The Ampersand, East Tower, 112 4 Ave SW 5th Floor, Calgary, AB T2P 0H3)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Generation:
Identify and qualify new opportunities within regulated emitters, financial institutions, and the clean-tech sector by researching and pinpointing the right decision-makers to build our North American pipeline.
  • Outbound Outreach
: Structure outreach plans, manage email campaigns, and report on key engagement metrics to provide the data-driven insights needed to inform our scaling strategy and impact.
  • CRM Management:
Work within our CRM, HubSpot, to ensure all prospect data and interactions are tracked, maintaining the high-quality data integrity necessary for cross-functional alignment and reporting across the company.
  • Proposals and Contracts:
Support the Business Development Lead by tailoring our standard proposal with the specific packages/pricing that aligns with customer needs.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Data, Economics,or a related field.
  • Experience:
0–5 years of professional experience. We welcome high-potential new grads who demonstrate exceptional critical thinking.
  • Industry Interest:
A strong interest in carbon markets and decarbonization. Experience in heavy industry or the clean-tech sector is a significant asset.
  • Critical Thinking:
Ability to "figure it out" in a growth-stage environment—identifying gaps in processes and suggesting solutions rather than just following instructions.
  • Communication:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable with cold outreach (written and verbal) and professional networking.
  • Technical Proficiency:
Able to use a variety of tools (HubSpot, GSuite, ZoomInfo, etc)

Application & Selection Process

  • Screening
: Initial CV screening and HR phone interview.
  • Manager Interview
: 30-minute in-person meeting with manager (Business Development Lead, North America)
  • Final Panel Interview
: A 30-minute session with the Business Development Lead and the Chief Commercial Officer. This stage includes an interactive discussion where we will walk through real-business scenarios to explore your critical thinking and approach to growth-stage challenges.
